Free food assistance is offered to anyone in need. Open every Thursday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. for groceries and food rescue items. For those who qualify, TEFAP is available the first Tuesday of each month from 5:00-6:00 p.m.. Delivery is available on an emergency-only basis. Diapers and wipes are available.

One time form kept on file for food recall communication but anyone is able to access food. For those who qualify by income, TEFAP is available. ​

Hot meals are provided with delivery for C2, Waiver, and C1 Temporary qualifying individuals. Cost is $4 for seniors, $9 for non-seniors.
Qualifications

Home Delivered Meals- Home delivery is reserved for those who are unable to come into the center for lunch. Qualifying factors can be either physical limitations or emotional limitations.

Temporary home delivery is available for up to 2 weeks if the participant is temporarily ill or is unable to get to the senior center on a particular day. This will continue to be recorded as a C1, or congregate meal. Upon return to the center, each participant who received temporarily delivered congregate meals shall sign next to each meal received as verification of receipt or may be asked to sign the delivery form upon delivery.

If a participant needs meal delivery for more than 2 weeks, they will be referred to the home delivery program. This program is referred to as the C2 program. A C2 AGNES, Aging Needs Evaluation Summary, will need to be submitted to the senior center in this situation. Eligibility will be determined based on the outcome of the assessment.

In either scenario, if resources are available to serve all eligible participants, spouses can receive meals under the circumstances listed below. If resources are not available to serve all eligible individuals requesting the service, preference shall be given to those of greatest social or economic need as defined by the Older Americans Act.

C1 Temporary Home Delivery- Persons 60 years of age or older and their self-declared spouses of any age if it is in the best interest of the participant.

C2 Home Delivery- A spouse of an eligible participant can be eligible to receive a meal if it is in the best interest of the participant.​​

Weekly Friday Food Bags for students in need of this service. Bags are delivered to schools by volunteers for distribution to students for the weekend. Homeschool students receive bags delivered to their homes.

Provides three meals and two snacks a day at each residential home. Food is also made available to other participants who are not in the residential home during meal and snack times, if needed. Meals are served between 6:30-8:00 a.m., lunch at 12:00 p.m., and dinner at 5:30 p.m. with snacks at 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. seven days a week.

Homemade meals are home-delivered, curbside, and dining room meals served at 12:00 pm Monday-Friday with freezer meals available for the weekends. Commodities are on the 1st Tuesday, and the Produce Route is on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays.

Food pantry and TEFAP services are provided. The pantry will open for emergency needs—call for arrangements. Open the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month from 1:00-3:00 p.m. TEFAP is distributed here as well. Delivery is available on an emergency-only basis.

THAYNE COMMUNITY FOOD BANK

Food Bank for the greater Thayne area (Thayne, Freedom, Etna, Star Valley Ranch, Bedford, Turnerville, Grover, and Auburn). TEFAP is also distributed at this location. The food bank is open every Friday from 11:00 a.m.-12:45 p.m. The food bank is open by appointment as well as needed. Lastly, there is a special veterans night for all of Star Valley on the second Thursday of the month from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Delivery is available on a case-by-case basis.

Homemade meals Monday-Friday at 12:00 p.m. at Thayne Senior Center and every Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. in Alpine at the satellite location. Hot, nutritious meals may also be delivered to seniors unable to make it to the center, delivered Monday through Friday, with freezer meals available for the weekends. Homebound clients may receive food from the Thayne Food Bank, delivered every other week. Thayne Senior Center is open 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday-Friday for additional services (transportation, socialization, classes and seminars, health clinics, and more).

Age-based: 60 years or better plus spouse. An annual aging needs assessment is requested each year; all programs are offered with a suggested donation, but there is no mandatory cost or fee.

Lunch is served twice a week, the food bank is available one day each month, and meals can be delivered within town limits. Lunch is served on Mondays and Wednesdays at 12:00 p.m. Lunch is $6 for anyone 55 and older and $10 for anyone under the age of 55. Meals can be delivered by appointment. The food bank is open the second Wednesday of each month.
